Alcohol is consumed at many meals to compliment the food that is being consumed.  Alcohol at meals does suit the palate and on occasions set the mode, but there are side effects when too much alcohol is consumed.  Let’s talk about alcohol metabolism and how it affects your health and what you can do to keep healthy.

How Does Alcohol Metabolism Work?

Alcohol being a liquid is absorbed quickly into the body, but it is not stored and must be processed and eliminated.  This is done through the liver.  Everyone knows that alcohol is toxic, provides high levels of energy and has no calories.  There are no minerals, carbohydrates, vitamins or for that matter anything that the body needs to survive.

Alcohol metabolism and the interaction on the body instead does the following:

Irritates the body’s system
Inflammation of the pancreas
Contribute to cirrhosis of the liver
Inflammation of the stomach
Affects the digestive tract

This affect on the digestive tract has an impact on how the body changes what we eat into energy.  Alcohol interaction on metabolism does not provide any nutrition and will also damage other organs.

How to Improve Alcohol Metabolism

Alcohol when consumed in large quantities is very dangerous.  It is absorbed easily into the body’s blood stream.  Once there it affects the brain, which controls the body.  It makes sense to prevent adverse reactions from the alcohol metabolism to drink in moderation or not at all.  This is especially true if you are pregnant or taking other medication.

Alcohol metabolism can cause many serious problems.  It will destroy brain cells, senses and the nervous system.  Alcohol metabolism can contribute to cirrhosis, cancer and ulcers.  Your doctor will be able to tell if alcohol has affected your body.  He can also advise if you should stop drinking.

Alcohol metabolism has been used by people to lose weight.  Alcohol at times has twice the amount of calories and no benefits to the body.

Alcohol metabolism as you can see has effects on the body.  A glass of wine or glass of champagne to celebrate someone success may complement the occasion and add to the enjoyment, it must not take over your life and health.  Don’t let alcohol metabolism become a daily activity where you do it to an excess.
